History of Telemedicine in Nepal
In 1995, an Ohio based INGO, United Hands to Nepal (UHN) came up with an idea of serving rural hospitals in Nepal through telehealth by connecting doctors and nurses of Nepal to Doctors in Columbus, Ohio. This is how telemedicine was born in Nepal. At that time, Dr. Anu Amatya was one of the founding directors of UHN and had played the instrumental role in creating UHN while undergoing post graduate pediatric training at Columbus Children's Hospital in Ohio, USA.

Travel Medicine is a highly dynamic specialty
focusing on pre-travel preventive care.
We have been providing this service for the past 2 decades, thanks to our expertise on pre-travel counselling and vaccinations. Irrespective of the travel destination, there is always a big risk of getting exposed to the destination-specific organisms and getting severely ill. This is specifically true when travelling to the developing countries as many vaccine preventable diseases are still commonly found despite having been eradicated from the developed world.
At Kopila, we provide advise on the most appropriate risk management interventions to individual children and adults based on their destination-specific risks and prevent adverse health outcomes during travel. The risk prevention interventions range from personalized Vaccinations and medications (depending upon the destination, itinerary and the amount of time available before departure and traveler’s immunization history) to providing an emergency medical kit (stocked with essential medicines that might be needed during travel).
